my week #38

I feel that these weekly 'show and tell' posts I do of my week are somewhat similar to what fashion bloggers do. Instead of 'what I wore' posts, I show you the innards of my diary - same concept, right? ;) I'm not poking fun at fashion bloggers, I am just trying to draw a parallel - just in case someone gets offended!

Here was my week: it started with a quote and some 'happy new year' text (idea copied from eunyroe on flickr) - a quote to inspire me as a new year starts, and then a load of admin. We are moving house later this month and we have also undergone a lot of changes at home. For example, the food we cook has to be prepared and cooked in a certain way now - hence why there is 'soak vegetables' as a to-do on Thursday.

This is a somewhat boring week compared to previous ones and having opened a network of 'my filofax weeks/my weeks', I look forward to featuring them later this week (or possibly, every two weeks!) :)

How has your week been? I hope you have all had a brilliant start to the New Year too.

2013 resolutions - but with a twist!

A new year has dawned on us, and with a new diary on hand (2013, yay!), obviously, it's the time where (some) people make resolutions. I used to make silly ones - lose weight, do well in exams, pass my driving test, etc. However, this year, I've opted to make resolutions that are more attainable and more about myself, rather than my potential achievements.

A lot of my resolutions coincide with my happiness project too and that was done on purpose. From what I experienced back in my second year at university, it really helped me put things into perspective and with a new chapter in my life just starting, I feel now is the perfect time to start with concentrating on myself and my own happiness instead of making the same mistakes I made when I was younger, even though I am not that old now.

Obviously, I have career goals, goals that can be 'measured', etc for this year too but those can't be classified as resolutions because it's all very well and good saying 'I aim to be promoted' or 'I want to change jobs and be a x instead' but these are 50% in our own hands and 50% not. I wanted resolutions that are 100% in my control and the above eight were the ones I came up with.

What kind of resolutions have you made for 2013? Did you make any? If you didn't, why not? If you did, what are they and why have you chosen them? Did you choose ones that you could measure? I think most of mine are unmeasurable but I chose them to try and make myself a better person :-)

what do you do with old cards?

Firstly, H A P P Y   N E W   Y E A R ! I hope 2013 is the year where all your hopes and dreams become reality. And, I wish you all good health, good fortune and happiness for the year ahead.

-----

Every Christmas and every birthday we experience, we receive cards. Sometimes, we receive a super cute or a really beautiful card that seems a bit of a waste to just toss into the recycling bin. So, the question is, what do you do with them?

I know some of you turn them into dividers for your planner but the cards I have are of a odd shape. Are there any other possibilities for cute cards? I used to stick them in my planner but it just feels like a shame to hide away cards that are as cute as this:

This card was from my sister, who sent it to me before my operation in an effort to cheer me up :) so it holds some sentimental value too. I also have a birthday card from her which is really cute too but it is too big to be made into a divider really.

At the moment, I have it stuck on my wall (along with other pictures of memories from my time at university, pictures of my childhood and school days, etc) but it seems to cute to just keep it on my wall. It is just the right width to make into a divider but chopping it up seems wrong too as the message inside is quite cute! All in all, I'm stuck for ideas.

What do you do with your old Christmas and birthday cards?

join in with 'my filofax week'/'my week' posts!

So, I am three months away from my 'my filofax week/my week' one year anniversary and with me using a new binder now (more on this soon, I promise!), I thought that now is as a good a time as any (instead of waiting til it's one-year-old birthday!) to share it.

At first, it was something I had planned and wanted to be original to Paper Lovestory only, but by doing this, it also gives me the option of showing the best weeks around the internet each week. If that isn't motivation enough for you all to decorate your weeks, I don't know what is. [/joke]

Anyway, all that I ask is that you place this button on your website, please. Just copy and paste the code below it into an element in the sidebar of your blog. Let me know if you've done this (just in case I miss your blog out) as I want to keep a record of participating sites so that I know which ones to trawl for a weekly 'awards ceremony'.

(The button also helps me see if your site is taking part, so that I can bookmark it :) )

So, what do you say? Would you like to join the 'my week' train? :) Who knows, once I get some spare moneys and if this gets popular enough, I may even introduce small prizes into this. On a sidenote: this isn't just open to Filofax users; that is why it has two names: 'my filofax week' or 'my week'. Which one you elect to use is completely up to you :)
